Yes, I do imply the mainstream media to be largely of one mind - it’s liberal. The collapse of the Episcopal Church is due to its liberal interpretation of the Scriptures. The liberal media would love for the United Methodist Church to adopt the tendencies of the Episcopal, because it would strengthen their liberal arguments. Therefore, any news that strengthens the conservative argument is downplayed by the media.
