M25’s
Mt. Bethel students and the St. Philip community have developed a very special relationship over the past few months. At the beginning of this summer students began making weekly trips to an apartment complex close to St. Philip UMC. (We call these trips M25’s after Matthew 25:40). These visits consisted of loading up the Mt. Bethel buses with students, food, a water cooler, coloring books and crayons, a kickball and bases. Students would then proceed to knock on doors and invite children in the apartments to come out and fellowship on the fields. From this excitement, children began coming out to play and then would go home to tell their parents about the “Church on the Corner with the fields”.
Mt. Bethel’s students have been introduced to an entirely different way of life that takes place only 20 minutes up the road from them. They have been introduced to split families with literally 11 people living in one apartment! They have formed relationships with children who go to bed without having eaten anything that day but what they had at school! What an eye opener this has been for our entire team of students and staff.
In preparation for these M25’s, our students will spend Sunday Night , during Day/One, praying over what will happen on the apartment’s fields that week. Through God’s grace and love, our students have taken an entire complex and have brought them the joy and love of Christ. We have gone from playing and hanging out with 8 kids the first week we visited to now over 48 kids!
God has continually astounded us with His Love when we are faithful to His calling.

Hats off to a tremendous outreach effort. However, as a St. Philip member, I am curious why I haven’t heard anything said at St. Philip about it?

What a great way for them to get involved, and become aware of their surrondings.
