[ Check out some videos from the trip here ]

I want to share some very exciting news about our recent Mission trip to Kenya. However, before I tell you about all of the wonderful things God is doing half way around the globe, I’d like to tell my story and how I found myself on this trip.

Ten years ago, my wife and I moved from Connecticut to East Cobb as I began a new job after being unemployed for nine months. I was, in many ways, a typical career minded – self centered guy trying to move up the corporate ladder and provide for my family as best as I could. I didn’t have many close friends and I certainly didn’t have a very close relationship with God. However, during my months searching for a job, I prayed every day and now, in retrospect, I can see how God answered my prayers. The new job was only a small piece of what He had in mind for us.

Faithfulness

Posted: July 29, 2009

A Homiletics periodical printed the following story. (I saved the story but lost the source.)

“Recently, a pair of geese chose a rather unfortunate nesting spot located close to a road. A few days after laying her eggs, the female wandered into the path of a car. Luckily for her, all she suffered was a broken leg. She was whisked off to a veterinarian and admitted to the vet’s recovery ward. Her faithful mate was left alone to tend their nest. The male not only continued to do all the nest-sitting, he also established a unique ‘coffee break’ ritual for himself. When he periodically left the nest to eat and drink, he returned by way of the road on which his mate was injured. There he settled down and patiently waited for his wounded mate to reappear. When the call of the nest finally overwhelmed him, the male reluctantly made his way back to his solitary incubation duties. Happily, the female has mended and the vet released her back to her family by the road.”

That’s a powerful example of true faith and devotion.

What would happen if the faithfulness of geese was commonly witnessed in the church? Several ideas come to mind. There would be standing room only at every worship service! Never would there be a Sunday School class or small group without a leader or teacher. Never would there be a shortfall of resources or lack of volunteers for any ministry or service project.

Compared to God’s “limited creatures,” how does your example of faithfulness rate?

I hope you’ll join us Sunday as we discuss God’s faithfulness in the message, “Ambulance Lessons.”

I’ve missed seeing you and I am really looking forward to reactivating! Thank you for your prayers.

Mt. Bethel Bible Studies

Posted: July 23, 2009

We are God’s children. Our Heavenly Father loves us so much and desires to have a personal relationship with us. Bible Study is one of the most important means we have to get to KNOW our Creator. As we spend time in His Word, the Holy Spirit teaches us and enables us to GROW our relationship with God. The more time we spend in His Word, we are transformed and equipped to GO out into the world to share His light and His love with others.

Mt. Bethel offers numerous small group opportunities for adults to…

KNOW, GROW, and GO!

Whether you’re looking for in-depth Disciple classes or a short term study focusing on a specific concept or Book(s) of the Bible, there’s a class for you! For more descriptions about class offering and times, visit one of the information tables in the corridor or next to the fellowship hall each Sunday, or log onto www.mtbethel.org/biblestudy and register online.
