With July 4th quickly approaching, maybe you too are thinking of our great nation and the freedoms we enjoy here. Each day I receive an email from the Presidential Prayer Team with a bible verse and a prayer. Daily I pray that God would bless America, our leaders, and our servicemen and women. I also post a prayer for my adopted troop, Peter C., a marine.
Like Irving Berlin said in his lyrics to God Bless America, “While the storm clouds gather far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free, Let us all be grateful for a land so fair, As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.”
Our nation needs our prayers, so I invite you join with me as I pause and raise my voice in prayer this Independence Day.
God Bless America!

I had the blessing to serve communion to the Participants and volunteers at the Older Adult Day Respite program. I arrived a little early, and joined them as they finished their music time. They were singing Blue Suede Shoes, Baby Face, and some other familiar favorites. Their song leader had them sharing about their Father’s and what advice they had received from their Dads. It was touching to hear them share their sweet memories between songs.
After music was over we shared the service of Holy Communion together. I asked them how many had attended VBS as children, and all of them had. They all had fond memories of their VBS experiences. I told them that at VBS this week we were showing and telling about Jesus, and the great love God has for us. It reminded me of “show and tell” back in grade school. I shared with them how Jesus is the ultimate show and tell. In John 1: 14 it says, “The Word became flesh, and made His dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth“(NIV) John tells us Jesus is the Word. The Word (Jesus) tells us of the Father and his great love for us. A love so great that he sent his only Son to come and live among us to show us how to live and love the way God had designed for us. We sang a verse of “I love to tell the story” and ended in prayer. The precious folks were so glad to have been able to share communion, and some fond memories. They showed me that we’re never to old for a little show and tell.

What an amazing night! The Porter Academy Art show and sale opened with a flurry of excitement over the young student’s art pieces. Parents, grandparents, Porter Academy Staff and Mt Bethel members enjoyed refreshments as they viewed the gallery in the B hall.
Barbara Ramer, principal of Porter Academy, was very grateful to Mt Bethel for hosting their first art show and sale that benefited the Matthew C. Roberts scholarship fund. “The art looks great, and the children are so proud to see their pieces displayed,” stated Ramer. To date, the art show has raised $1200 dollars for the scholarship fund.
The show generated a lot of excitement and a greater awareness of Mt Bethel’s Special Needs Ministry, while spotlighting a great school that provides a wonderfully supportive learning environment, Porter Academy. What a blessing to work with the staff at Porter, and to have the opportunity to meet some of the artists and their families at the gallery opening. I am grateful that God got us altogether for this wonderful event.
Note cards of the children prints will be available in the bookstore until the end of May. You may special order prints of the children’s art until the end of May by contacting me.
Thanks to everyone who made this show and sale possible!
