The Health Care Ministry at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church encompasses a holistic approach to the health and wellness of the congregation by integrating health with spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. This ministry has been established for developing and assisting with programs to enrich the well being the entire congregation as a whole with an emphasis on the senior adult population, The Mt. Bethel Christian Preschool and Day Care attendees, and the church staff.
The ministry now has a “Code Red Health Care Team” which includes doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and chiropractors and other health care professionals who donate their time and talents for many of the various programs and meet monthly. This team will be pairing with The Good Samaritan Health Clinic and the Boy Scouts to provide assistance with health care needs. In an emergency, the team has also prepared a “First Responder” procedure and the necessary supplies in several locations on the church campus. The Health Care Ministry will coordinate annual blood drives, Health Fairs, and Flu vaccines as well has provide CPR, First Aid, Babysitting classes to the congregation and community. A clinic is available in the Christian Activities Center for any church member, visitor, or staff member in the event of an emergency or for routine health screenings.
The Special Needs Ministry, under the direction of Rev. Kim McGarr, continues to thrive. Special Needs Sunday School classes, FOCUS (Families of Children Under Stress), Parent’s Night Out and summer Vacation Bible School are available for any child in the church or community who requires special assistance due to a disability.
In closing, the Health Care Ministry continues to embrace the example of Jesus Christ by teaching, touching, educating and caring for others.
