Confirmation is a program preparing for membership in the United Methodist Church. We typically offer Confirmation to seventh graders, but accept older students as well.
Confirmation is a wonderful and very important experience through which each youth learns more about their faith and the responsibility of church membership. Fellowship, fun and a retreat are all included in the Confirmation experience! However, Confirmation is far too important to be viewed as "just another ritual" of the church. The meaning of salvation is explored, taught and understood, as a result of Confirmation. Also, your youth will be enabled to better express, live and enjoy their faith as a result of this Confirmation process.
Due to the serious nature of Confirmation, Mt. Bethel requires each participant to attend Sunday School at 9:30, one of Mt. Bethel’s worship services at 8:30 or 11:00 and day|one - on Sunday nights during this period. Confirmation class will be held during day|one.Serious excuses are accepted, but if a participant misses a Confirmation class for any reason, a make-up session is required. Attendance at the Confirmation Retreat is mandatory. The purpose for these requirements is that the participant fully understand what it means "to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to faithfully serve Him through the Mt. Bethel UMC with your prayers, presence, gifts and service."
We offer Confirmation classes in the fall and the winter.
