How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses to help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” (1 John 3:16-18)

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry that builds homes as a witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The biblical mandates of caring for the poor and serving God by serving others are at the heart of the Habitat ministry.

Mt. Bethel will began construction of our 26th and 27th Habitat homes on October 5, 2009. Almost 300 volunteer builders in addition to those who bring food and drink, Road Race sponsors and volunteers, Habitat supporters and benefactors will honor God's call, coming together to share the love of Christ with our Habitat homeowner families.

Habitat homeowners work 100 hours building their home, 100 hours building homes for others and are required to attend 100 hours of classroom instruction on topics such as home maintenance, financial management, career advancement, child development, etc.

A Habitat home is not a gift – each homeowner will have all the responsibilities that come with homeownership, including a 20 to 30 year mortgage. All donations, race sponsors' fees and runners entry fees will be repaid thru these mortgages and used again to build more Habitat homes.

10% of our sponsor fee is tithed to Habitat International to build homes around the globe. For example, the tithe from the two Habitat homes that Mt Bethel will build in October 2009 will fund eight homes in Ghana.

NW Metro Atlanta Habitat (formerly Cobb Habitat) is in the top 20 of Habitat International's 1600+ affiliates. Mt Bethel is NW Metro Atlanta Habitat's leading home building sponsor.

Sign up for the build and the road race up at the Habitat table in the corridor leading to the main sanctuary on Sundays in September. We need volunteers to build the homes, groups and/or individuals to provide lunches for the workers, volunteers and participants for the road race, and most of all, your prayers and support.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE NEXT RUNNING OF THE MT. BETHEL HABITAT "FRAMING THE FUTURE" ROAD RACE - OCTOBER 2, 2010.

Race results for this year are posted below.
