Postmodernism and the New Age

This in-depth study is part of the Areopagus Christian Studies Institute's series on "Alternative Universes: A Study of Comparative Worldviews," taught by Dr. Jefrey Breshears. This course is a critical analysis of the New Age and Postmodernism, two of the greatest challenges to Christianity today, and is particularly relevant and valuable for any Christian who wants to understand the spiritual and intellectual culture in contemporary American society. Topics include:

• The origins of New Age spirituality;
• Is New Age spirituality legitimate, fraudulent, or occultic?
• The New Age influence in the church. 
• An analysis of "Oprahism" - the cult of Oprah Winfrey and her spiritual guru, Eckhart Tolles;
• What is postmodernism, and why does it pose the greatest threat to Christianity today?
• How has postmodern affected young adults and popular culture in the last 20 years?
• How is postmodernism affecting the church?
