August 24, 9:10 & 10:40 am Pre-Service Concerts
We are very pleased to welcome world-class organist Mr. Carlo Tunesi to Mt. Bethel on Sunday, August 24, at our 9:30 and 11:00 am services, as he kicks off a week of performing in the United States. Mr. Tunesi was the accompanist for our good friend (and Furman grad) Ms. Karen Parks as she toured Italy this past year.
A native of Rho (Milan), Italy, he devoted his early years to studying the organ and all forms of classical sacred music. He received a Bachelor?s Degree in Organ Performance and Organ Composition from the conservatory of ?Gaetano Donizetti? in Bergamo (Italy). In 2001, he decided to further his studies and received a Master?s Degree in ?Didactics of Music? at the Faculty of Musicology in Cremona (University of Pavia).
Mr. Tunesi is currently the principal organist of PIME?s church (Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions) at ?St. Francesco Saverio? in Milan. For more than ten years (where he has held his position) he has been organizing the liturgical services and all musical events during the most important services of Advent and Lent. He is also conductor of St. Gianna Beretta Molla?s Musical Chapel at the Parish Church in Mesero (Milan).
As a concert musician, Mr. Tunesi has performed as a soloist, chorus conductor and with other instrumentalists and singers in remarkable musical events in numerous European countries.
In 2009, his scheduled performances include St. John?s Cathedral in Warsaw, Poland; Lincoln?s Cathedral in Great Britain; Ottobeuren?s Abbey in Germany and the Struel Organ Festival in Denmark.
