Meets Monthly

For our March 16 gathering, we’re excited to welcome Licensed Professional Counselor Melissa King as our special guest. Melissa will share practical, encouraging insight in "Grace and Guardrails"— how to set healthy boundaries with your kids in a way that builds connection and confidence at home.

We’d love for you to join us—come learn more about Mt. Bethel’s HOME group, connect with other women, and be encouraged through Melissa’s thoughtful and timely presentation. All are warmly invited; registration is not required to attend this special gathering.

In her own words, Melissa shares:
"Growing up, I remember being sensitive, hardworking, and keenly aware of others emotions around me. It has always been a part of the way God wired me. Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I found myself drawn to helping and serving those younger than me, often volunteering in the Children’s Ministry, leading Bible studies, and mentoring young girls. Helping, listening, and showing empathy was something I realized God had created me to do. At the same time, I often found so much of my identity in performing well and pleasing others, that it led to an unhealthy lifestyle of perfection and anxiety. I at times, became exhausted from the standards and expectations I placed on myself and the perceived (or sometimes real) expectations of others. I started counseling in my early 20s and began to understand better my anxiety, shame, and perfectionistic thinking and how it was affecting me. Since earning my degree, I have received advanced training in Play Therapy and Supervision. I have been fortunate to use my education and skills in various fields. From my time in the classroom as a kindergarten teacher to my service in the office as a case manager for Devereux Therapeutic Foster Care, I have always found caring for children rewarding. I also had the opportunity to work as the Director of Young Women's Ministries at the Gathering Place in St. Simon's Island, Georgia, which kindled a desire to work with young adults. I’m married to Brent… mom to Mazie, Graham, and Claire. In my spare time, I enjoy coffee, listening to music and podcasts, eating sushi, going on long walks, and being with friends and family."

What is HOME?

Hearts of Moms Encouraged (HOME) is a women’s group for those in any stage of motherhood where mothers share community, fellowship, encouragement and equip one another for life's challenges. It’s a place of connection where moms can realize they are not alone and discuss topics that reach moms in every season and help them with practical tools to navigate their lives. For moms who want to personally grow in their faith journey and raise families of faith, there's no place like HOME!
